Workout injuries can happen to anyone, it doesn’t matter how fit or experienced you are.  Even simple workout or walking can cause an injury.

Muscle Pull and Strain

It is a very common problem. It can be faced by any workout enthusiasts. Due to continuous strenuous activity, wear and tear occur in the human body which changes muscles fiber. Most common symptoms are localized pain, swelling, stiffness, bruising (due to damage to small blood vessels).

 

Shoulder Injuries

The shoulder joint is a very complex ball and socket joint. A number of ligaments, muscles, and tendon hold them together. Should joint is highly prone to injuries during the workout. The most common shoulder injury is rotator cuff injury.

 

Ankle Sprain

Ankle twist can happen during outdoor running, jogging or even while using the treadmill for exercise.

 

Shin Split

It is common in people who involve in long distance running and perform repetitive cycles. Shin split is pain in the shins/ front lower legs due to continuous strenuous activity. Wearing improper shoes, Uneven ground, running uphill or downhill to increases the risk of shin splints

 

Knee injury

Unable to stabilize the knee during heavy lifting and too much tension on knee leads to various injuries to the joint, structured around the knee.

 

Tendinitis

It is one of prominent workout injury which occurs to tendon during the workout in the wrong posture. Tendon connects muscle to bone. Tendonitis is inflammation, swelling or irritation of the tendon.

 

Other Injuries

  • Wrist injuries like carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Stress fracture
  • Tennis elbow
  • Pectoral injury

 

Prevention:

  • Proper warm-up and cool down before and after the workout.
  • Do stretching before and after workout
  • Select appropriate shoe and clothing during workout
  • Proper nutrition and hydration of body
  • Give proper rest to your body after workout to recover
